Obituary, Mrs. H. Lindemood

Anna Elizabeth Slusher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Slusher, deceased, who were pioneer residents of Johnson county, Kansas, was born July 10, 1881, near Stilwell, Kansas.

At the age of four years, her mother passed away.[sic] and she was left in the care of her father, with whom she spent her childhood days, until at the age of 16, he, too, was called away.

She then kept the home together for her brothers in a manner which only a truly devoted sister could do, and in which she took great pride and was always kind and affectionate making it a home highly appreciated, until December 31, 1907, when she was united in marriage to Harry Lindemood, of Bucyrus, Kansas, near which place they resided the remainder of her life, with the exception of one year, which was spent at Excepsior [sic] Springs Mo., and Olathe, Kan.

In early youth she united with the M. E. church, living a consistent Christian life to the end.

She departed this life at her home Monday, January 31, 1921, at the age of 39 years, six months and 21 days. She leaves to mourn her death, for whom she always showed her love and devotion, her husband, one sister, Mrs. Della Taylor, of Kansas City, Mo., two brothers, E. E. and J. H. Slusher, of Stilwell, Kansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Bucyrus, Kansas, Wednesday, February 2, 1921, conducted by Rev. Rand, of Kansas City, Mo., after which the body followed by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends, was laid to rest in the Aubry cemetery.

Rest on in perfect peaceful sleep,
God's will, not ours, be done;
Your work is finished here on earth,
And your reward is won.

Save in your Heavenly Father's care
Free from this life of woe,
'Tis there we hope to meet again,
And all your gladness know.

The family chain again is broken,
A link we loved is gone,
We can only hope to reunite
In the "Beautiful Great Beyond".

Heavenly Father guide our footsteps
Be with us hear, as with her there
Finally share with us your treasure
Is our earnest ardent prayer.
